This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Now living in Vancouver, British Columbia, Attila Lukacs is a painter of homo-erotic male figures that have "often shocked galleries and the public", (wikipedia) and of bamboo, conifer trees, and floral subjects.
"He is most known for his work involving skinheads, military personal, cadets and the explicit and violent images associated with the concepts of male domination, sexual power and punishment .Often his work questions the stereotype of males sexuality in roles that would be assumed heterosexual as they involve a battle of physical strength and a wrestling for alpha position which sometimes lead to submission through the use of sexual degradation or that of sexual domination(e.g. Hazing Traditions). " (artandculture.com)
He was born in Calgary, Canada, and graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design* in Vancouver. In 1986, he moved to Berlin, and in 1996, settled in New York City in order to be closer to American art influences. He had a battle with drug addiction, and in 2001 went to Hawaii to recover before moving to Vancouver.
