Born, raised and living in Houston, Texas, he was educated at UCLA, 1972 receiving his teaching credentials in Adult Education.
With his work linked to Surrealism and Folk Art, Long is a painter, sculptor (also ice sculpture) and photographer.
Grants and Honors: NEA Visual Artists Fellowship Grant, 1987. Bemis Foundation Residency, 1988. Texas Artist of the Year, 1990. Rome Prize Fellowship, 1990-91.
