| | Born in Columbia, SC on Nov. 3, 1863, the daughter of Joseph LeConte. The LeConte family moved to California when Caroline was a child and settled in Berkeley where her father was a professor at UC. She studied art locally at the School of Design under Virgil Williams and for many years was a pupil and close friend of William Keith. A spinster and deeply religious, she devoted her life to the Catholic Church.
