| Born In Los Angeles, CA on April 22, 1902. Lawler graduated from UC Berkeley (1924) and then spent six months at Harvard Law School. Abandoning a law career, he returned to his native city and got closer to art via ceramics while employed at the Gladding-McBean tile plant. On a trip to Paris in 1928 he decided to become a sculptor. About 1930 he returned to Paris to study under Charles Malfray. He then studied at the CSFA under Stackpole and in Los Angeles with Archipenko. During WWII he (showing 500 of 1291 characters). |
