This biography from the Archives of AskART:

He was a Chicago artist, specifically from Grayslake, but painted and exhibited throughout the US, including Texas, Washington, New York, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Ohio and even Mexico. It is written that Longabaugh was so popular back in his day that his paintings sold “wet” from the easel.  Not only did Longabaugh paint in oils, but he did many watercolors and etchings as well.  It was noted in a newspaper tribute that he was as fine a man as he was an artist, and that he would be greatly missed.  His works were exhibited in Chicago by Kroch’s Galleries, The Lake County Art League,  The Drake Hotel, Obrien Galleries, and the Beacon Book Shop.
