Contemporary surrealist painter of figures, animals and imaginary landscapes Cheryl Laemmle, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1947, has received a variety of awards. They include, in 1980, a Creative Artists Public Service grant; in 1984, the Vera G. List award; and, in 1985, a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Her work is in the collections of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., and Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City.
