Clare Veronica Hope Leighton 1901-1988
Clare Veronica Hope Leighton — engraver and writer — was born in London, England on April 12, 1901 and died in 1988, probably while residing in Woodbury, CT. Leighton immigrated to the United States in 1939 and became a citizen in 1945. Her oeuvre consists of market scenes, genre, docks, woodcuts, and wood engravings. Leighton studied at the Slade School of the University (showing 500 of 1976 characters). |
