|  The following information was submitted by Paul Murphy, and comes from the cover of Lewis' book Historical Long Island Paintings and Sketches (1964): Cyril Lewis studied at the Birmingham College of Arts and Crafts in England. His paintings have been widely exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and the Royal Society Galleries in London, England.
He was President of the Brooklyn Society of Artists for two years, and of the Art League of Nassau County for ten. He also served as Honorary Vice President of the American Watercolor Society.
