| | Born in Concord, CA on Sept. 13, 1880. After graduating from UC Berkeley in 1903, Lyser taught English and mathematics at Alameda High School for many years. In her leisure she painted landscapes and marines of the San Francisco Bay area. She was an active member of the Sierra Club and a friend of John Muir. A lifelong resident of California, she died in Contra Costa on Dec. 7, 1981.
