| Layton was born October 27, 1909. Daughter of a small-town newspaper publisher and a Poet Laureate of Kansas, upon her father's death in 1942, Layton published the Wellsville Globe newspaper for 15 years. She began her career as an artist in 1977 at age 68 after taking a class in blind contour drawing from Pal Wright at Ottawa Univ. Known for tackling social issues in her work, the subjects and issues explored in her drawings include women's rights, the homeless, aging, capital (showing 500 of 2056 characters). |
