|  From Oklahoma City, Emil Lenders reportedly was born in London of German and English parents and educated in Munich. However, sources differ as to his birth place.
The "American Art Annual" lists him as a sculptor and painter, and in Oklahoma, he was regarded as one of the top portrayers of Indian life. He went to the American West because of his love of Indians, cowboys, fauna and sun-drenched prairies.
