Biography from AskART:
| The following is from Rick Reale:
Regarding Ernst Lohrmann, he was my wife's grandfather. Besides being an artist and sculptor, he was a master silversmith trained in Germany. In 1932 in Meriden, Connecticut, which was then the Silver City because of all the silver factories, he started the Ornamental Design Program in the local technical school.
When he retired in 1957 the program ended. He was the common thread of an incredible number of artists and designers. He was also very humble, not caring to make a name for himself. Probably 99% of everything he did is still in the family's possession. This coming October 20th, he is being inducted into Meriden's Hall of Fame. |
