|
| Frank Bird Linderman carved a notable niche in Western culture by
faithfully recording Plains Indian tales, legends, and customs in
literature and sculpture. Linderman once wrote that he enjoyed
sculpting more than writing. With
his hands, he could recreate the physical images of a lifetime of old
northwest memories, including encounters with Indian chiefs whose names
may have been forgotten were it not for his books. By 1930 he had
become a prolific sculptor, keeping a model (showing 500 of 2739 characters). |
