| From Wisconsin, Frank Liddell settled in Los Angeles in 1883 and was a banker and self-taught artist who in his leisure, painted in oils and watercolors. He was one of the founders of the California Art Club, dedicated to plein-air landscape painting, and served as the first president in 1909. The Sanborn and Vail Gallery in Pasadena represented him in the 1890s.
Liddell remained active in Los Angeles until his death on November 9, 1923.
