Biography from AskART:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
Commander of the "Heckla," in an 1821-1823 expedition led by William Parry, Captain Lyon was an accomplished draftsman, who did numerous drawings and subsequent prints depicting Inuit people. His work became an excellent source of ethnographical data.
The purpose of the expedition was to find the Northwest Passage by exploring the Hudson Bay area. |
