| | Born in Bloomington, IL on Dec. 13, 1861. Grace was a child when she arrived in Los Angeles with her parents. Her father established the first woolen mill on the West Coast in 1871. Grace was a pupil of Wm Keith in San Francisco during the early 1880s. In 1887 she wed Earl Lockard and settled in Carpineria, CA where her husband was pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Their first son was named for Keith. Mrs. Lockard painted landscapes of the area around her home in watercolor and oil.
