| In the 1940s, Henry Luhrs was an illustrator for "Cosmopolitan" magazine and a fine-art painter. He became the founder of the Luhr Boat Company and resumed painting after he retired from that work.
Luhrs was born in San Francisco and active there except for service in World War I.
He died in Laguna Beach on February 23, 1964.
