Born in Chicago, Illinois, Herbert Taylor Lewis was a painter of florals, abstracts, animal, and figure studies.
He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, and Academie Julian in Paris. After several years in New York City, he lived and painted in Arizona beginning in 1920.
In the late 1920s and 1930s, he was an art instructor at Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois, and from 1943 to 1954, was a resident of Tucson. By the early 1930 (showing 500 of 1294 characters). |
