The following information was submitted in October of 2006 by Simon Copas:
Jessie Loose Smith studied under Robert Henri and William Merrit Chase at the New York School of art in 1904/5 and later at the Ecole Des Beaux Arts in 1922. She produced some good portraits in a painterly style under Henri, as well as many good charcoal sketches. Her Paris works are a few and are more stylized and without the verve of her early works.
She was born in 1886 in Kansas and (showing 500 of 819 characters). |
