After 20 years as a successful illustrator, Jim Lamb became a plein air painter which he said was like "starting all over again" (Southwest Art). He was born in Montana, and settled in Issaquah, Washington.
Lamb likes to paint in oil because he regards it as the "most forgiving of mediums because it can be smeared out, scraped off, or even wiped away completely at any time". He also uses photographs and recently a video camera.
