| John Lincoln (b. September 10, 1933-died December 16, 2009)
A California-based artist, he does painting and
drawing, many figural, in an expressive style that combines
realism and abstraction. His mediums include ink, graphite, ink
washes, conté crayon, chalk and oil stick, and most of his drawing is
black and white with touches occasionally of brown or grayish blue.
Lincoln earned his BA and MA degrees from California State University
in Long Beach and in Los Angeles attended the Chouinard Art Institute,
Kann Art Institute, Jepson Art Institute and UCLA. He has studied
at the Art Students League in New York, and in 1992, began a regular
course of study at La Grande Chaumier in Paris and has also exhibited
there with faculty shows.
For 32 years, he has been an art teacher of life drawing, going between California, New York and England.
