This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Called a society portraitist as a pretty young artist, June Harrah did sculptures of champion dogs and race horses "for the doggy and horsy set".  Sculptress Harrah did sculptures of equestrian nobility including Seabiscuit, Challedon and Jadaan, the grey stallion ridden by Rudolph Valentino in the movie, The Son of the Sheik.

She was the daughter of a gentleman rancher who founded the town of Harrah, Washington.  It was said that liked animals better than people.  Unlike many young female artists of her day, she was able to support herself from her artwork early in her career.  She did not have much formal training, and said: "I don't get around much in art; I just do it because I have to."

In 1941, June Harrah married Jere Williams Lord, a Princeton University graduate who became a prominent heart and vascular surgery specialist at New York Hospital. The couple had three children and divorced in 1971.
