| | Born in Berlin, Germany on Aug. 22, 1878. Leuschner immigrated to the U.S. in 1906. Settling in New York, he graduated from Oswego Normal University and then taught art in the public schools of Rochester. He moved to Los Angeles in 1926 and briefly taught at Otis Art Institute. He earned his doctorate from UC while working for local lithographers. He then developed a color chart which is still widely used.
