Known as the "bloomer girl" artist because she championed women's suffrage, Laura Lee lived in Boston where she was a member of the Copley Society and exhibited with the Boston Art Club as well as the Pennsylvania Academy and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Biography from Wharton Fine Art, Inc.:
Laura Lee was an advocate for woman's rights.  She was the Director of the Chelsea Public Library for some time, and some of her artwork remains in the Library's collection.  She was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and despite her travels to Europe, resided for much of her life in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

She studied at the Academie Julian in Paris and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. 

She exhibiting at the Boston Art Club from 1891-1908, The Art Institute of Chicago from 1895-1897, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1895, as well as a successful portrait exhibition at Vose Galleries in 1915.

Laura Lee was a member of the Copley Society and the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts.
