This biography from the Archives of AskART:
An artist and poet, Lawrence W. Lee creates symbolic Native American images, many of them reflective of his own personal journey of struggling with mental depression.  His book, Living With an Imposter, published in 2007, is that story combined with coping with his wife's Alzheimer's Disease. His wife, whom he describes as the 'love of his life', was settled in Tucson after her illness took over her life, and he moved to Guatemala near Lake Atitlan.

Lawrence Lee has had a career as a professional artist for almost four decades. He was born in Arkansas and raised in Tucson, Arizona, and has variously resided in those places as well as in Patagonia, Arizona and Ambergris Caye, Belize.

Following is an update from the artist, submitted June 2014

I returned to the U.S. in 2012 and am once again living and working in Tucson, Arizona.

I paint in acrylic on canvas.  I do not paint in oils.

I received a BFA in 1969 and an MA in Education in 1970 from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.

I wrote and illustrated a children’s book titled The Mirror, which is widely regarded as the first children’s book to be illustrated with color images done entirely on a computer.

My work is in the permanent collections of the Tucson Museum of Art and the Tucson Desert Art Museum, as well as others.
