This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Lucie Harris Locke (Mrs. David Roger Locke, Mrs. W. Armstrong Price), 1904-1989, was born in Valdosta, Georgia. She lived in El Paso, San Antonio, Sonora, Mexico, and the Texas Hill Country before settling in Corpus Christi in 1931.

In 1921-1924, and again in 1932, she studied with Xavier Gonzalez, Ellsworth Woodward and Will Henry Stevens at Sophie Newcomb College, in New Orleans. She also studied with Charles Resent and Olin Travis at the San Antonio Art School. At various times, she also studied with Frederic Taubes, Stella Shurtleff and Increase Robinson. Locke was a muralist, painter, illustrator, critic, writer and poet.

Her 1949 book of observations,"Naturally Yours, Texas: Verses and Illustrations", is about Texas phenomena, plants and animals, including prairie dogs, armadillos, mesquite trees, whirlwinds, sand dunes and mirage.

After 1944, Locke served as an art critic for the "Corpus Christi Caller-Times". She was chairman of the Corpus Christi Art Foundation in 1944-1946. Locke painted murals in the Corpus Christi Civic Center. When her first husband, David Roger Locke, died in 1960, she married, in 1964, noted geologist and oceanographer W. Armstrong Price. Locke lived in Corpus Christi until 1986 when she and her husband moved to a retirement community in Austin. When her second husband died in 1987, she moved to Santa Fe to be near her two daughters. She died there two years later.

Locke was a member of the American Artists Professional League; American Federation of Arts; Art Association of New Orleans; Corpus Christi Art Foundation; Corpus Christi Art Guild; South Texas Art League; Southern States Art League; Southwestern Sculpture Society; Texas Fine Arts Association (director); Texas Watercolor Society.

Her work is in the collections of the South Texas Institute for the Arts, and Del Mar College, Corpus Christi; as well as the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Alabama.

Lucie Locke's exhibitions include:
San Antonio Local Artists Annual Exhibition, Southern States Art League Annual Exhibition and Annual Texas Artists Circuit Exhibition.
