Biography from ArtSanDiego:
Mabel Beatrice Holtz Landaker was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 11, 1902. She specialized in painting impressionist portraits and still life works. She was also quite skilled in ceramic pottery work.

While attending the Art Institute of Chicago she met her artist husband, Harold Charles Landaker. She also studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Chicago, and the Carmel Art Institute. For about 15 years the couple were part of the Clyde Beatty Circus, and in addition to painting posters and wagons for the business, they managed some of the attractions. During this time they had two sons. From 1940 to 1946 they lived in Southern California.

In 1946 Mabel and her family moved to the Monterey Peninsula. They settled in Pacific Grove and were very involved in the local art community. In 1956 she became involved as an Artist Member of the prestigious Carmel Art Association. She served on their Board of Directors on three separate occasions. She was a member until her death in 1998.

Landaker exhibited her works at the Carmel Art Association gallery, the De Young Museum, the Madonna Festival in Los Angeles, the Monterey County Fair, the City of San Francisco, the Society of Western Artists, and the Biltmore Galleries in Los Angeles. She was an award winner in many of these venues. Her commissioned portraits include those of Greer Garson, Count Marco, Charles Bickford, and many others. Her works are in private collections worldwide.

At the time of her death on January 29, 1998 she was a resident of Pacific Grove, California.
