| | Born in April 1874 in Blocksburg, CA. "Rosie" Martin wed Clinton Lasley in 1890 and settled nearby in Blue Lake where her husband operated a drugstore. In 1894 the couple purchased a camera and undertook a small portrait operation which Rosie managed. Mrs. Lasley had a strong rapport with the local Indians and was adopted into the Hoopa tribe who gave her a white deerskin robe. In 1907 the couple left Humboldt County and moved to Los Gatos, CA where she took up painting.
