Living in Houston, Texas until 1993, Mark Lombardi was a Conceptual artist who moved to New York in the mid-1990s. In Texas, he had done relatively simple, abstract pieces and run a small gallery, but in New York his style became much more assertive. He gained recognition for his elegant, Conceptual drawings, often quite large, whose themes were social, governmental scandals which he handled in an investigative way.
