Biography from Space 237:
| Maximillian Lawrence, a musician and painter, was born in Chicago Illinois, studying at at Cornell and Rhode Island School of Design graduating in 1997. He is one of the founders of the collective SPACE1026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
His paintings are composed as resin impregnated photo realistic portraits imposed on design elements of Persian Minature design . They range in sizes to 8 feet and they are intended to be jewel-like in their lumunosity.
He has exhibited his work at the DUMBO Arts Center in New York, The Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, Sace1026, Space237, Toledo Museum of Art and Vox Populi in Philadelphia.
In 2005 he exhibited in Milan, Italy at the Urban Edge Show 2000 at P4, four months after touring Europe in concert for SoundInk. He has designed and produced record covers for a number of recording artists. He often incorporates original compositions that he produces and plays into installational aspects of his shows.
He has worked for The Philadelphia Print Collaborative and has painted building size murals for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Commission |
