Nancy Lawton grew up in Santa Clara, California. She attended California State University at San Jose and earned a MFA from The Massachusetts College of Art in Boston.
Early in her career Lawton devoted her art to black and white graphite drawings on Bristol board or Stonehenge paper. She has also mastered the medium of silverpoint which she often combines with her graphite drawings or with acrylic paint. Lawton's subjects are botanical drawings and portraits.
