Nikolay Tysland Leganger was an active landscape and portrait painter working in both New York City and Boston. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design (New York City) from 1877 to 1891. He also exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Association (New York) between 1871 and 1882. His work was represented at an important sale of paintings at Noyes and Blakeslee in Boston. In 1873 he exhibited at the Boston Art Club (Boston).
