| | Born in LeMars, IA on Nov. 17, 1903. Opal Hasbrooke moved to California about 1919. Trained as a singer, during the 1930s she was in the chorus of the San Francisco Opera. She married and abandoned a musical career to teach in the elementary schools of Lakeport, Oakland, and San Leandro for 35 years. In her leisure she studied painting locally with Jade Fon, Thomas Leighton, and Ralph Baker. Mrs. Lafferty died in Santa Rosa, CA on May 15, 1995.
