| | Born in Hartford, CT on July 24, 1826. Loomis was a wood engraver in NYC from 1848-59 and then settled in San Francisco where he spent the remainder of his life. Locally, he also appeared as a minstrel at the Alhambra Theater in 1868. He was a partner of Harrison Eastman in an engraving firm and active in the local art scene until his death on Jan. 23, 1878.
