| | Born in Germany in 1834. Having learned woodcarving in Switzerland, Langensee came to the U.S. in 1852. By 1866 he had settled in San Jose where he sculpted the interiors of the Santa Clara County Courthouse and the Stanford University Chapel. He died in San Jose on March 19, 1919. | Source:
