This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from the artist:

Bob Landström was born in 1959 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. At the age of 10, he was invited to study fine art at Carnegie-Mellon University, where he attended evening and weekend classes through high school graduation. After earning a Bachelor and Masters Degree in electrical engineering, he continued his fine art education at School of the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, Massachusetts.

Bob began exhibiting his work in 1987 at the end of his studies at SMFA. A number of years were spent exploring a personal aesthetic focused upon the power of line to express energy relationships in plastic space, further influenced by studies of metaphysics, primitive religions, and lost knowledge. During a trip to the Southwestern United States studying Native American petroglyphs in 1992, he began using indigenous materials mixed with paint as a more relevant representation of the imagery produced. Since that time, Bob has been using this technique involving volcanic rock mixed with paint.

In 1993, Bob was a winner of an international competition in New York City, and the following year was invited to participate in an international artist exchange that resulted in his first European exhibition. He has been published in the book, "New American Paintings" in 1995 and in 2002, as well as in the journal "The William and Mary Review" in 1994, 1996, and 1997.

Bob currently lives and works in Alpharetta, Georgia.
