Biography from Butler Institute of American Art:
| Samuel M. Lee was a scene, landscape, and portrait painter. He was at Cincinnati in 1826, and in 1835 he exhibited a panorama, "The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah" at New Orleans.
About 1837/38 he painted the Fire Scene from Dante's "Inferno" for the Western Museum at Cincinnati. He was at Louisville, KY in 1838-39 and was scene painter at the St. Charles Theatre at New Orelans when he died on August 2, 1841 |
