This biography from the Archives of AskART:
"How we translate what we see around us depends on the arts that have influenced us; we must differentiate between looking and seeing. Only when we see beauty does an object come into existence," says Sarah L. Lewis. Surrounded by the ocean and wooded acreage in her South Carolina home, Lewis began at an early age exploring the elements of nature.

After college and extensive traveling around the globe, she moved west. Sarah's goal is to translate nature through her painting in much the same manner as reading a book. She wants the viewer to be completely engaged; to be allowed to drift away in time - to make a space where there is freedom for the mind to wander. . . to dream. . . to remember. Her imagery is conveyed in a variety of media: oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, stone and offset lithography, serigraphy, landscapes, seascapes and wildlife.

EXHIBITIONS:
Salmagundi Non-Member exhibition, NY.
Evergreen Audubon Show - Patron's Award, Honorable Mention Colorado Watercolor Society, Denver, CO.

Biography from Blackhawk Gallery:
How we translate what we see around us depends on the arts that have influenced us, further, we must differentiate between looking and seeing. Only when we see beauty does an object come into existence. Surrounded by the ocean and wooded acreage in her South Carolina home, Sarah L. Lewis began at an early age exploring the elements of nature.

Her move west came after college and after extensive traveling around the globe. She has continued to explore her surroundings on canvas by paring down her vision to study the shapes and colors around her. Sarah's goal is to translate nature through her painting in much the same manner as reading a book. She wants the viewer to be completely engaged; to be allowed to drift away in time - to make a space where there is freedom for the mind to wander. . . to dream. . . to remember. Her imagery is conveyed in a variety of media; oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, stone and offset lithography, serigraphy, landscapes, seascapes and wildlife.
