Born in 1982 and raised in St. Louis Missouri, Scott Lowenbaum started painting and showing locally at twelve.  Originally working in a abstract style with fragments of representational objects  and focusing on silk screening, Lowenbaum transitioned to oil paintings that incorporate animals in 2004.  Since 2005 he has made most of his own paints by grinding gem and mineral pigments

He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris and studied privately with Pierre Soulages in Paris.  He received a Bachelors of Arts in Art History at Washington University in St. Louis Missouri in 2005.

Lowenbaum, then living and maintaining a studio in St. Louis and Paris, exhibited steadily in galleries and museum throughout the United States and abroad.  Notably he had a solo exhibitions at: SOKE Fine Arts in June 2006, CAC Milan in January in 2007, Gallery MDP Paris in March 2009.his work has been exhibited at the following  museums : MAC Strassbourg , MOCA Zegreb , MCA Shanghai.

He has also been included in panel discussions and lectured and conducted fine art and critical analysis seminars for the Ecole de Beaux Art in Paris, the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Columbia University, Yale University and others.  He has also conducted slide lectures throughout the US and Europe.
