| | Born in Chicago, IL on Aug. 6, 1919. Locks moved to California in 1931. From San Jose State College he earned an M.A. degree from Stanford. After serving in the Army during WWII, he taught art at San Francisco State College in 1947-63. His last years were spent in Sonoma, CA; he died there on Oct. 5, 1994.
