This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| An outsider artist from St. Louis, Missouri, Sydney Lugger had no support as an artist and ran a flea market in the poor section of that city. He started painting for therapeutic reasons to alleviate pain and became obsessive about it, executing 1800 works between 1977 and 1981.
He painted with commercial house paint and enamel and painted on wall panelling from his flea market. |
