| James Yeh-Jau (Jimmy) Liu, known as the "Artist Laureate" of Tiburon,
California, was born in Hunan Province in China in 1910. As a
college student he played basketball at the National Art
Institute. He later rose to the rank of Colonel in the Chinese
Army during World War II. When the Japanese invaded his native
Hunan, he fled on horseback ahead of the invaders, and led a scorched
earth campaign. After the war he was recruited by Chiang Kai-shek
to join four Gener (showing 500 of 1972 characters). |
