O’Brien is considered one of the nations top sporting art experts and has been featured in articles by the Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, and Art and Antiques Magazine. He has also written a number of articles including “An Introduction to American Sporting Art” featured in the Catalog of Antiques and Fine Art in 2002. O’Brien recently wrote and published “Masterworks of the Illinois River,” a 150 page book illustrating the waterfowl decoy collection of Thomas K. Figge. O’Brien is also a member of the Appraisers' Registry and the Antiques Council.
