| Ada Charpentier McGrew was born in Ohio in 1902. While a resident of Los Angeles in 1928-34, Cassidy taught at UCLA. Mrs. McGrew had settled in San Diego by 1940. For many years she maintained a studio in the Spanish Village in Balboa Park. She died in San Diego on April 4, 1988. She is said to be a relative of artist Ralph Brownell McGrew, possibly his mother. Her rare works are of the desert and back country of San Diego County.
