| | Albert Edward Meakin was born in San Francisco, CA on Sept. 26, 1901. By age 17 Meakin had taught himself the art of calligraphy. He pursued this line of work and became one of the best on the West Coast. A lifelong resident of San Francisco, he died on Jan. 26, 1986. | Source:
