| Alexander Samuel MacLeod was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada on April 12, 1888. MacLeod studied at McGill University. After settling in San Francisco, he studied at the Institute of Art under Frank Van Sloun. He had a studio in San Francisco in the old "Monkey Block" (now the Transamerica Bldg) and while living down the peninsula to San Mateo. By 1929 he had returned to Canada and for ten years following WWII he was head of the graphic art department for the U.S. Army in the Pacific. He was (showing 500 of 1425 characters). |
