| Alexander Samuel Millar - Canadian - 1921-1978
Born in Toronto, Studied at the Ontario Art School.
Awarded the Lt. Governor General's Medal upon graduation from college in 1950.
Received a Department of Veterans Affairs scholarship to study in Mexico, 1951.
Won a scholarship to study at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel De Allende.
Won the Terry Art Institute International Award, Miami Florida.
Studied in London at the St. Martin's School of Fine Art, London.
In 1954 Millar joined the staff at the Ontario College of Art. He also taught at Queens University, Kingston; The Doon School of Fine Art; and the Mary and Roman Schneider School of Fine Art.
Millar was a member of the Ontario Society of Artists and the Canadian Group of Painters.
Millar studied under Carl Shaeffer, George Pepper and J.W.G. MacDonald.
