| Amadeo McGarry was born in Ohio in June 1864. In 1887 McGarry settled in Los Angeles and was active there into the 1890s. While there, he etched and painted portraits, landscapes with crumbling adobes or missions, and western scenes. By 1900 he was in San Francisco.
