A painter known for miniatures, art teacher of drawing, painter of
opera scenery, and restorer, Anthony Meucci was active in New Orleans
from 1818 to 1827, with intermittent visits to Charleston, South
Carolina (1822), New York City (1823) and Salem, Massachusetts in
1825. In 1818, he established a studio on St. Ann Street between
Dauphine and Bourbon, and by 1826 was working out of a studio at the
corner of St. Peter and Royal Streets.
