| | Born in Leeuwarden, Holland on April 8, 1872. Molkenboer studied at the Amsterdam Academy and in NYC at the ASL. He was active in San Francisco in 1906 and, while there, painted scenes of the earthquake and fire. He then moved to Los Angeles where he decorated the Majestic Theatre Bldg. In 1909 he returned to New York and soon thereafter to Holland.
